Press Release Body: Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML) is organizing the 3rd Conference on Global Competition and Competitiveness of Indian Corporate in association with Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode during May 29-31, 2008.
The conference is to be inaugurated by Mr. Vinod Dhall, Chairman Competition Commission of India. Around ninety papers will be presented in this three-day conference and presenters represent the premier academic and business establishments of India.
The key speakers at the conference include, Prof Devi Singh, Director, IIM Lucknow, Prof. Krishna Kumar, IIM Kozhikode, Prof. Prem Vrat, Vice Chancellor, UPTU Lucknow, Dr. Subhash D. Awale, NITIE Mumbai, Prof S. Chakraborty, JIM Lucknow, Prof Arvind K. Sinha, IIT Kanpur, Mr Ranjan Acharya, V.P. - HR, Wipro Technologies, Prof P.K. Singh, IIM Indore, and Prof. M.T. Raju, Indian Institute of Capital Markets, Navi Mumbai, etc.
Prof. Shailendra Singh, the Conference Chair informs, "The conference will bring academia, industry, and policy makers on one forum to deliberate on the critical dimensions of competitiveness, both at global and local levels. Issues of competitiveness drivers and dampeners, and identification of potential catalysts and supporting factors, and their outcomes will be debated thoroughly in the conference. The conference will also focus on future agenda of research to facilitate theory building, practice and policy intervention on competitiveness"
The salient objectives of the conference are:
a. Develop/increase awareness and understanding of the patterns and impact of global competitiveness, and take a stock of the preparedness of the Indian industry to face the challenges of global competition.
b. Provide a platform for exchange of ideas among business, academia and policy makers to enable them to channelize the expertise towards the common goal of improving India's global competitiveness.
c. Identify issues for future research on global competitiveness in India, and gathering support of industry in providing data for the same.
d. Prepare a blueprint for future action, to guide meaningful research programmes in the country and to help develop appropriate coping strategies for meeting the challenges of globalization.
